PS: No one's probably interested but Sun have just cut 11% of their work force.

    my reaction: f***.

yeah, I think this ghost town is a display of how an economic downturn in the tech industry affects guerilla filmmaking.

my last IT contract ended December last year, I bummed about for 5 months before getting a salaried IT job.

now I don't make enough money for lavish productions and certainly can't afford to even pay ppl's expenses so I have to rely on an ever shrinking core group of ppl to get stuff done.

my next project is for charity but, shock, they have budgeted to pay me for my time!

I was never an active poster at this forum, even though I visit most days....

I also think that Dale's neglect of his eXposure site meant that alot of visitors couldn't find this new forum (since boardhost changed things a couple of months back!)

Recently I've spent more time doing "film" stuff (more of the post production: after effects).

Considering how much promise the "eXposure shorts" idea had... i've even been thinking about pushing for a volume 2 CD?!

Why not apply for funding? A man of your experience, portfolio, and connections should be well positioned to give a good case for the success of a project.

So here's the plan - go self employed whilst retaining the salaried job, and offset my losses on the self-employment gig against tax from my other income at self assessment time. I get 25 days holiday a year, plus weekends, for doing location sound recording work. In fact, since "trailling" the sound recording lark and getting my first job earlier this month, I now have my second job lined up already ....

Today, "expenses only", tomorrow "profit and loss!"

(why am I reminded of Monty Python's accountant sea?)
